“Let every soul be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and the authorities that exist are appointed by God… For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to evil… But if you do evil, be afraid; for he does not bear the sword in vain; for he is God's minister, an avenger to execute wrath on him who practices evil” (Romans 13:1-4).
God gave “the sword” to government to execute God’s wrath on evil-doers. Attacking the police is rebellion against God. Good Policemen should be respected because of the authority God has given them, while bad Policemen should suffer God’s wrath. Solomon’s Wisdom said: “Because the sentence against an evil work is not executed speedily, therefore the heart of the sons of men is fully set in them to do evil” (Ecclesiastes 8:11).
