No "Christian" Crusades - July 20, 2020

In Luke 9:51-56, Jesus intended to go to Jerusalem and passed through a Samaritan village, but “they did not receive Him.”  His disciples, James and John, wanted to “command fire to come down from heaven, and consume them.”  “But He turned and rebuked them, and said, 'You do not know what manner of spirit you are of.  For the Son of Man did not come to destroy  men's lives but to save them'" (Luke 9:55-56).  Jesus did not teach, nor permit, physical retribution and destruction upon those who do not obey His will. The Apostles learned there is no such thing as a “Christian Crusade.”  Reporters and Historians have grossly perverted Jesus' teaching when they speak of “Christian Crusades.” Jesus' kingdom is “not of this world” (John 18:36).  The Gospel of Jesus Christ converts willing souls, but does not “destroy men's lives.”  - July 20, 2020
