To the Samaritan woman at the well, Jesus proved He was The Prophet, because, as she said, “He told me all that I ever did” (John 4:39). When she told her neighbors, “they urged Him to stay with them; and He stayed there two days. And many more believed because of His own word” (John 4:40-41). (1) The true Prophet of God didn’t ask a stranger any details about her life before He told her all she had done. (2) Actual faith comes from Jesus’ actual Word, so that we may “know that the Son of God has come and has given us an understanding, that we may know Him who is true; and we are in Him who is true, in His Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God and eternal life” (1 John 5:20). - August 16, 2021
