It's impossible to have a “Thanksgiving” unless there is someone to thank! The Apostle Paul wrote: “I thank God, whom I serve with a pure conscience, as my forefathers did, as without ceasing I remember you in my prayers night and day” (2 Timothy 1:3). (1) God is the only source of blessings to thank, so: "Blessed is the man who trusts in the LORD, And whose hope is the LORD” (Jeremiah 17:7). (2) Having a “pure conscience,” then: “Blessed is that man who makes the LORD his trust, And does not respect the proud, nor such as turn aside to lies” (Psalm 40:4). (3) Being constantly remembered in prayers, so that: “Blessings are on the head of the righteous, But violence covers the mouth of the wicked” (Proverbs 10:6). To some it is “Team Game Day,” to others it is “Turkey Game Day,” to Christians it is “Thank God Day.” - November 18, 2019
