“In this the love of God was manifested toward us, that God has sent His only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through Him” (1 John 4:9). Jesus is special because:
1) The word, “manifested” means “made obvious,” and so: “Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends” (John 15:13);
2) He is God’s “only begotten Son,” because no one else has been made like Him! Jesus is not God’s “only” Son, for “For you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus” (Galatians 3:26);
3) “And you know that He was manifested to take away our sins, and in Him there is no sin” (1 John 3:5).
Jesus said, “if you do not believe that I am He, you will die in your sins” (John 8:24).
